How To Movie Hop

Ever tried movie hopping? What IS movie hopping? Well, it's when after you watch one movie, you go to another movie and watch it even though you only paid for the first. So you can say you watched the second movie for free. But you can be caught and be on the radar for movie authorities for the next few weeks. It is a high risk, high reward, situation. Movie hopping was easier to do back in the '70s and '80s, but you can still do it today. Here's how. Oh, and I ever movie hopped? No, because I just don't feel like it.

1. Choose a large multi-plex theaters, something with a long hallway that has multiple theaters or even better, multiple floors. Be sure it’s a place that has a ticket taker at the main entrance or near the the start of the hallway of the theatres and not in front of the theater doors, otherwise that would fail your try of movie hopping.

2. Have the movie times on your phone or on a list for all theatres, so that you can time the start time of the movies.

3. Go to the theater on a weekday, especially a Tuesday (prices are cheaper!), because there will be less employees and ushers at the doors will be slim.

4. Buy the most popular movie you've chosen to see that day, and buy the actual time you will watch it, too.

5. Watch your movie, then once it's done, hide in the washroom, and watch the next movie until you're tired or done with watching movies.

6. Have fun!

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • Do not theater hop in the middle of a movie, as this is the most suspicious thing you could do, as the ushers and employees can easily spot you.
  • Try NOT to buy concessions, you want minimum interaction with the staff.
  • Leave the theater with the crowd, nothing will stand out more than a single person lurking in the lobby.
  • Wear a jacket over your clothes. Change during each movie, so the staff won't notice.
  • Do not make a scene if you get caught, you already got to see at least one movie. If you leave quietly, there's a good chance that they won't remember your face.
